Does my child need Occupational Therapy?

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No.  You do not need a referral.  Simply contact us and we can have a chat about your child and / or your concerns.

How do we get started?

Once you have contacted us, we will organise a date for an initial assessment.  Then we will send you out our initial intake forms either via email. Please complete the forms and bring them with you to your initial assessment.  During the assessment, we will use a combination of carefully selected standardised assessments and clinical observations to complete a comprehensive evaluation.  The assessment is designed to look a lot like play.  We can then provide recommendations and / or a comprehensive report if desired.

Is Kids Space OT registered with Medicare and what does this mean for me?

Kids Space OT is registered with Medicare.  Your GP may provide (at their discretion) a Chronic Conditions and Complex Care plan (formerly EPC).  This means you will be eligible for a certain number of subsidised sessions.
You do not need one of these plans to attend OT.

Can I claim on private health insurance?

Most private health insurers cover Occupational Therapy.  Please contact your provider for more information regarding this.

Can I claim a rebate using a Mental Health Care Plan?

Yes, Sumita is registered to provide services under Better Access to Mental Health which means you can claim a rebate for your appointments with her if you have this type of referral from a Paediatrician.  If you have a Mental Health Care Plan, please advise us when making your appointment so you are allocated to Sumita’s caseload.
